I think it depends. I'm having a destination wedding/weddingmoon and we are not haveing anyone attend. It's the 2nd marriage for both of us so we choose to have a private intimate wedding out of town and plan on having a party when we return.

Hi,
this is Sophie and I am a wedding planner.
Yes, parents attend destination weddings. This is the difference between a run-away wedding and the destination wedding. You invite parents and guests and you put wedding celebration and honeymoon together.
Your question did not sound that excited about your parents, so I guess you don't want to invite them?
If so, let me ask you a few other question:
Would you invite them if the wedding were at your hometown?
Is there a reason why you do not want to invite them?

Ok, so if there is a situation, and you do not wish to invite your parents you do not have to. After all it is your new family's celebration and if your parents do not agree with the marriage or for any other reason, they might not even attend.
But be very careful because it can cause a very sad and deep emotional memory for everybody, if you make the wrong decision.

Even destination weddings has the father give his beautiful daughter away. But the parents know that once the ceremony is over, they are to leave the Newly Weds alone for the honeymoon. If you aren't wanting your parents to come, than I suggest you tell them that you are eloping and that when you get back from your honeymoon that they can throw you a reception party. This way they still feel like an important part of your big day.

Parents have gone to the only two destination weddings that I know of. If the couple elopes then, no the parents are probably not there.

Parents want to see their kids get married.

Why wouldn't a parent attend a destination wedding? Unless they are just eloping I don't see why they wouldn't be in attendance.
