As a photographer you want to blend in to get the most natural shots. Honestly wearing black is a good choice– to other events. At a wedding, people will think “black clothes… camera… ITS THE PHOTOGRAPHER! Smile!! Look pleased!!” It won’t be natural…

What you just said sounds fine.
I always see wedding photographers wearing simple outfits like that, and no one makes a fuss.

I think that would be appropriate for the wedding. After all, your there to do your job. What your wearing will probably give you a more professional look.

I would wear the same sort of outfit you’d wear as a guest. When taking the photos, be sure you don’t cut off the feet or the tops of their heads as so many amateurs do. Good luck!! ; )

It is fine to wear black to a wedding trust me. I know of a videorapher company who wear camouflage trousers and a white tank top. So just retain a sense of formality and you will be fine.

It is NOT appropriate to wear black. You are in the service industry, the customers rule! Unless you are super famous, I reckon you did be in something that they will be comfortable talking to you. Some warm colors perhaps.
No one want to talk to the undertaker at a wedding. Not mention you might lose potential customers too.
